TRAINING FOR UNBOUND GRAVEL ON THE LITESPEED TOSCANO
Are you training for Unbound Gravel?
If you got selected for Unbound, then you've known for a few months. Hopefully, this means you've spent this time diligently preparing your mind, body, and bike to take on one of the toughest gravel races around. Or maybe you're dragging your feet? At the time of writing, we're just over 15 weeks away from the start, so if you haven't, it might be time to start preparing.
Need a bit of inspiration or motivation? Well, I'm here to help! For the next 15 weeks, I'm releasing a weekly training vlog, documenting my own preparation for Unbound Gravel. This first episode is available here:
Unbound Gravel is my favorite gravel race, and I've raced every edition since 2022. I love the terrain, the vibes, and how the little town of Emporia, Kansas, transforms into a gravel mecca for an entire week. Last year, the Litespeed team had six riders take part, and we all had the time of our lives. I've had some good results at Unbound, too! I've "beat the sun" three times, and in 2024, even managed a sub-12-hour finish.
This year, I'm working with a coach to try to lose weight and build power to reach the next level of performance. Alongside me will be my trusty Litespeed Toscano gravel bike equipped with a Cane Creek Invert gravel suspension fork. It's super light, super tough, and super capable. This is a bike that I love more and more with every mile.
Maybe my Toscano and I will succeed at going faster at Unbound this year. Maybe we won't. Either way, we'll have a lot of fun together along the way.
