There is a difference.
Litespeed has long been regarded world over as the preeminent source on advanced titanium bikes. And there’s a simple reason: we take the highest quality titanium available—and make it better.
It all begins with a devotion to quality that we established in 1986. While much of our competition have chosen to settle for softer, more easily worked grades of titanium, we cut zero corners, going above and beyond by sourcing premium cold-worked, cycling-specific tubesets—the best of the best.
With artisan hands, our team of master craftsmen then construct the tubes. It's their painstaking workmanship that shows with every weld, artistically connected.
The result speaks for itself: with progressive design, attentive workmanship and exacting fit, along with a tuned ride experience that’s second to none, every Litespeed road, mountain and gravel bike has pro-tier performance as its driving principle. Our titanium bikes truly capture the essence of the ride experience, in the best way imaginable. The uniquely stunning look of a Litespeed? That’s just a beautiful byproduct.
Litespeed is, quite simply, the high bar for what a titanium bike should be.
For over 35 years, Litespeed titanium frames have been handcrafted in America. We take great pride in our ability to lead the industry, bringing to you cycling’s most technologically innovative, sophisticated and elegant titanium bicycle.
At Litespeed, we uphold an age-old standard: that the highest quality products are handmade right here in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Our tubing manipulation technologies lead the industry, and one only has to see the shape of our tubes to realize the difference. While using lesser quality tubesets makes a bike easier to work and shape, or cheaper to produce, it’s never been our way.
Instead, our titanium tubesets are cold-worked; we shape the tubesets to achieve targeted performance gains, all without sacrificing tubeset strength or adding weight to compensate. Our cold-working capacity is without peer.
The result is a frame that is not only visually striking, but also performs better on the road or trails than any other titanium bike on the market, with increased stiffness where needed, improved aerodynamics and increased damping where desired. Our cold-working capacity is what makes our bikes stand out from the rest.
Our ability to make an incredible bike is clear. But our ability to adjust it in a way to make it yours… that’s our customization advantage.
And that can mean just about anything. Whether it’s an adjusted geometry or the addition of special water bottle boss locations, even the choice of decal, etching or paint colors on many models, we can accommodate your requests. We may also be able to access groupset or wheel options that’s don’t exist on the menu. When it comes to Litespeed custom, nothing is impossible.
If you have a concept, change or addition you’d love to see on the Litespeed of your dreams, let us know and we should be able to make it a reality. Just call or live chat with our team in Chattanooga to chat through the options.
What makes for a bike that design experts and magazine editors see as the best of the best? Collective input helps. We take feedback from consumers, as well as the pros that have ridden and helped us develop our bikes over the years. We work hard in design, in stress testing and in the wind tunnel to bring you the best titanium bike possible. Of course our design team engineers are riders themselves, which helps them interpret every bit of nuance from the road or trail to the design table.
As a result, pundits have lavished accolades for decades upon our bikes. And our awards highlights began in earnest. In 1988, just two years after its inception, Litespeed claimed the “Best of Cycling” award—one of our first accolades—from Bicycle Guide Magazine. Several years later in Germany, we claimed the 2007 Silver Award—the show’s highest design accolade—at Eurobike with the Archon road bike. Litespeed was then inducted into Bicycling Magazine’s“Gear Hall of Fame” in 2011.
And most recently, in 2019, the White House selected Litespeed as Tennessee’s representative for its “Made in America “showcase on the White House lawn, heralding American brands that are fully U.S.-made products across all industries.
When it comes to top-shelf design—for form and function—Litespeed has always led the way.
In 2012 NASA’s sought out an expert in titanium, and partnered with Litespeed on its development of key equipment to a truly groundbreaking interstellar project. It was Litespeed’s knowledge and expertise in titanium that spurred us to develop Litespeed’s Aerospace Development Program, where we developed titanium components and products for use in military applications and aerospace exploration.
In working with NASA’s Jet Propulsion Labs, we designed and manufactured key titanium components for a rocker-bogie system in the landing gear for the Mars rover Curiosity, which landed on the Mars surface in 2012 and is still there today bringing back important data as the team continues exploring the universe. It’s this partnership that has not only helped drive our innovation in aerospace technology, but our bike technology as well. No other bike company has illustrated true mastery in titanium the way that Litespeed has—on your local road and almost 69 million miles away on the red planet.
