Cannon Cyclery in Alpharetta, Georgia recently built two custom Litespeeds for two dear customers and friends. The results are so cool that we had to share their story.

We had fun building these!

You know you have a unique relationship with your clients when you get to build a second pair of dream bikes for them. Clients Kevin and Marty have been friends of the shop since before there was a shop! Since 2007 if I am not mistaken. After too many miles to count, and too many worn out drive trains to remember it was finally time to replace the Trek Madones I built for them more than 12 years ago through Trek’s Project 1 Program. As good as Carbon is, it just doesn’t last forever and it was time to build something that would. When you want the ultimate ride, American made quality, and a truly enduring material you need not look any further than Litespeed.

These custom built Litespeed’s are truly one of a kind. We started with T2 Disc Frames and added a ton of modern goodies as well as custom paint work. Kevin chose to honor his favorite team, the Pittsburgh Steelers (Good or Bad), and Marty fell in love with the Blue Mica Metallic paint. Litespeed does all their own paint work in house and can do full custom and semi custom for just about any of their bikes, and the quality is top notch. Neither one wanted to go to electronic shifting as to avoid the need for charging etc. and both wanted to simplify the drive train, so of course we built them with Sram 1X systems. For Kevin, it was an easy choice, he has worn out more big chain rings than I can remember and rarely used the small ring so a single chainring made sense. Marty was looking for a softer shifting system and powerful brakes to make the shifting and braking easier, and Sram’s Double Tap shifting and Hydro Disc brakes were the answer. Custom built Boyd Cycling 36mm rims mated to DT Swiss 240 hubs are both aero and quiet, so they can enjoy the ride with out free hub noise which was a requirement as well.

Kevin and Marty are life long cyclists and know what they like and need, so we were able to build something that meets their needs exactly. With gear ranges and systems that fit their riding styles, comfortable and well fitting Titanium frames, and some of our personal favorite brands and systems their bikes are truly one of a kind and beautiful. We love building custom and getting to serve our clients who clearly love cycling. Thanks for letting us help with the process guys, we hope you love these new rides as much as we enjoyed building them for you.
